In addition to nuts and bolts, like concert length and venue—and making sure there are substantial parts for all sections of the orchestra in each concert—the team and artistic director plan the season—and every concert—with these priorities:
- Artistic growth of the ensemble
- Variety of styles and eras, and pieces that audiences don’t hear often but will appreciate
- Representation of diverse aspects of the human experience, such as culture, era, gender, race, ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, and religion
- Anniversaries of composers lives, pieces of music, and historic events
- Current local and national conversations
- Seasons (This is Minnesota, after all!)
