We rehearse on Tuesdays from 7:00-9:30pm.

Enter front doors and go down the long hallway to the music room at the back of the building.

Sometimes we will rehearse at other venues with prior notice.

Mississippi Valley Orchestra is always recruiting for the following positions. For all other positions, please inquire for openings or substitute opportunities.

Our audition process is flexible

We get it, auditions can be stressful. At MVO, we believe auditions are helpful but not the only way to evaluate playing ability. Therefore, we have a flexible and easygoing audition process at MVO. Ironically, it’s how a lot of great musicians end up joining us!

For typical auditions, we ask you to prepare your choice of music that demonstrates your best playing ability. It can be an excerpt from a solo, orchestral, chamber piece, or something we’ve never heard before. Total duration should not exceed 5 minutes. We will not ask you to sight-read or play a scale.

Alternatively, especially for those of you who have a fair bit of orchestral experience, sit in for a rehearsal or two and get a feel for the group. And if you like our collegial, relaxed, yet diligent working style, you can schedule an audition whenever you feel ready or discuss options with our Artistic Director.

Please note for wind and brass players, auditions are mandatory.
