The opera serves as a timely reflection on larger issues of migration and community. University Opera Theatre will be the first organization to present a public performance of Hometown to the World following its premieres in Hawaii and Santa Fe in 2021. Created by composer Laura Kaminsky and librettist Kimberly Reed, through a co-commission by Santa Fe Opera and Hawaii Opera Theatre. The chamber opera is free to view, and will premiere on the School of Music's YouTube channel on Thursday, February 3 at 7:30 p.m. The performance, conducted by MVO Artistic Director Ho-Yin Kwok and featuring an MVO ensemble, will be available for viewing through Saturday, Feb. 5. We hope you enjoy this special addition to this year's season! |
